The following Prayers have all been featured previously on the website.

I pause for a moment and think of the love and the grace that God showers on me:

I am created in the image and likeness of God;

I am God's dwelling-place.

Dear Jesus, I come to you today
longing for your presence.
I desire to love you as You love me.
May nothing ever separate me from You.

Lord, help me to be fully alive to your holy presence.
Enfold me in your love.
Let my heart become one with yours. Amen

As I come to you today, Lord,
Fill my heart and my whole being
with the wonder of your presence. Amen

To be conscious about something is to be aware of it.
Dear Lord, help me to remember that You gave me life.
Thank you for the gift of life.
Teach me to slow down, to be still and enjoy the pleasures created for me: to be aware of the beauty that surrounds me: the marvel of mountains, the calmness of lakes, the fragility of a flower petal.
I need to remember that all these things come from you, dear Lord.

Dear Jesus, I come to you today
longing for your presence.
I desire to love you as You love me.
May nothing ever separate me from You.

Sometimes I wonder what I might say if I were to meet you in person, Lord. I think I might say "Thank You Lord" for always being there for me. I know with certainty there were times when you carried me, Lord, when it was through your strength I got through the dark times in my life.

Help me Lord to be more conscious of your presence.

Teach me to recognise your presence in others.

Fill my heart with gratitude for the times

Your love has been shown to me through the care of others. Amen

Lord, may I never take the gift
of freedom for granted. You gave
me the great blessing of freedom of
spirit. Fill my spirit with Your peace and
Your joy. Amen

Dear Jesus, as I call on you today

I realise that I often come asking for favours.

Today I'd like just to be in your presence.

Let my heart respond to Your Love. Amen

Lord,

bless all those who are

deprived of basic justice

and who are trapped.

Give them the light of hope

and help us to be attentive to them.

Release in us the flow

of attentive love for all in need

and for the beauty of your Word.

Bless us with the justice which you alone can give.

Amen.

Lord,

We struggle with our broken and divided hearts.

Bless us with your peace

as we strive to look and act in honesty

about ourselves.

Strenghen in us the glimpse

of the glory you hold in store for us.

Let that be the attractive force which stirs our hearts

and not the attraction of sin.

Give us true wisdom

in our search for your justice.

Amen

Lord,

bless us with true insight.

Help us to look with clear eyes

at all the ways

in which we fudge our duty

and avoid the truth about ourselves

Free us from prejudice and jealousy

which so often blind us to the truth.

Bless those who act in the courts of law

that they too may act with integrity

in the service of the greater justice

to which we all aspire.

Amen

Father,

We praise and bless you

for your triumph over death

in Christ your Son

and for the gift of the Holy Spirit

which is the priceless blessing

you bestow upon us.

Bless all,

especially those we know

who have yet

no sense of your goodness

and no share in your liberating justice.

Amen

Lord,

bless all who are burdened

with financial debt.

Ease their anxiety

through the support they can receive.

But help us not to be afraid

of recognising our debt to you.

Bless us with the joyful acknowledgement

that we are always

in debt to you,

for your love and mercy to us.

Bless us with generous hearts

that as debtors ourselves

we may be lovingly generous

to those in debt to us.

Lord,

We bless you for the example of St Joseph.

Bless all fathers

in their care for their families.

May they reflect your own

fatherly mercy and love.

Bring to each of us

the measure of loving justice

which we need

Free us from our foolish insistence

that all we need is already

within our own power

Teach us a humble dependence on you

Amen.

Lord

bless our Lenten journey.

Refresh within us a keen sense of justice

for all in our lives

and for all around the world.

Lift our sights beyond indignation

So that our efforts for justice

may be the fruit of love

which you alone provide

in all its fullness

Walk with us closely

on our journey to you.

Amen

Walk With Me

Lord God, our light and our salvation,

we praise you for your gifts of life and faith.

We thank you for the desire

that you have planted in our hearts,

our yearning to see your face.

Help us to meet you in prayer,

to walk in your ways,

and to speak to others of our joy

and consolation in your presence.

Give us faithfulness in this present life

so that we may come to know

and praise your beauty,

with all our brothers and sisters,

in the life to come.

We make this prayer through

Christ our Lord.

Amen

Lord, Care For Me

Come into my loneliness with your friendship;

Come into my weariness with your strength;

Come into my worries with your peace;

Come into my sufferings with your comfort;

Come into my sorrows with your joy;

Come into my sadness with your consolation;

Come into my heart with your love;

Come into my life with your compassion.

Come, Lord, and show me your loving care.

Amen

The Lord Be With You!

May the Lord be with you in your journey in life;

May he look after you and keep you from harm;

May he surround you with his peace,

And gladden your heart with joy;

May he keep you always in his care,

And gently guide you in all your ways

with his loving presence.

Amen

God Keep You In His Care!

Through all life’s many problems,

when worries tend to flare,

In every anxious moment

God keep you in his care.

In all your dearest dreams,

And all the joys you share,

In every care free moment

God keep you in his care

Throughout each passing day,

Each minute, everywhere,

In every busiest moment,

God keep you in his care.

Amen

The Lord Be With You!

May the Lord be with you in your journey in life;

May he look after you and keep you from harm;

May he surround you with his peace,

and gladden your heart with joy;

May he keep you always in his care,

And gently guide you in all your ways

With his loving presence.

Amen

May the Lord bless you,

Bless you through the coming year,

Bless all those that you hold dear,

Bless the journeys that you make,

Bless the tasks you undertake,

Bless you each and every day,

Bless your life in every way!

Amen

New Year Prayer

Lord, may this year be a time of grace for me, a time to grow in faith and love, a time to renew my commitment to following your son, Jesus. May it be a year of blessing for me, a time to cherish my family and friends, a time to renew my efforts at work, a time to embrace my faith more fully. Be with me, Lord, every day, so that your light may shine through me, in spite of my weaknesses and failings. Amen

Advent Prayer 3

God of power and mercy, open our hearts in welcome. Remove the things that hinder us from receiving Christ with joy. Give us the strength to grow in love so that at the dawn of Jesus’ coming we may be ready to rejoice in his presence and receive the light of his truth. We ask this in the name of Jesus Our Lord. Amen

Advent Prayer 2
Heavenly Father, more than 2000 years ago you sent a messenger to prepare people’s hearts for the coming of your Son. Help me to hear his words and repent of my sins, so that I may clearly see the way to walk, the truth to speak, and the life to lead for Him, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Advent Prayer 1
Loving Father as we begin this season of preparation and hope, teach us how to live in love. Show us how to walk in your ways, ready to learn and ready to change. Help us always to hold in our hearts and minds all those who go hungry. Give us the compassion to look beyond our own lives to those who are suffering and the courage to respond to those in need. Help us, Lord, to be generous in our actions and in our giving this Advent. Amen

In this time of autumn, with falling leaves and shorter hours of daylight,

the world around us reminds us of the passing of life

      So it is in November that we remember those who have passed from this life and we pray for them.

Let us remember our families, friends and people who have inspired us over the years.

May we honour their memory and be thankful for the influence they had on our lives.

Our thoughts now turn to those who are no longer in our midst

Though vanished from our sight they live in our hearts,

For goodness is indestructible and what was good in their lives endures for ever.

God enfolds them in the mystery of eternity,

as we embrace them in the undying memory.

Our sorrow is to have lost them; our privilege is to have known them;

Our responsibility to build on their achievements,

for we honour them best when we share with others what they meant to us, and strive

to fulfil the hopes and dreams they cherished.

Let us praise God for their lives and dedicate ourselves anew to the task which united the generations- to labour for a better world.

Jewish Prayer from Rosh Hashanah Jewish festival of Atonement.

Lord, welcome those who have died

Lord,

Welcome into your calm and peaceful kingdom

those who have departed out of this present life to be with you.

Grant them rest and a place with the spirits of the just;

And give them the life that knows no age,

the reward that passes not away,

through Christ our Lord. Amen

(St Ignatius Loyola)

Let nothing disturb you;

Let nothing frighten you;

Everything is changing;

God alone is changeless;

Patience attains the goal;

One who has God lacks nothing;

God alone fills our needs.

Praise the Lord for he is good;

Sing to our God for he is loving.

The Lord builds us up,

he heals the broken-hearted;

he binds up all our wounds;

he fixes the number of the stars;

he calls each one by name.

Lord,

Why do I anticipate the worst

when time and time again the worst never happens?

Help me to overcome my fears,

to calm my mind,

and be filled with your peace.

Lord of Creation,

When we look for evidence of your presence,

open our minds that we may see you in

The geometry of the rainbow,

The arithmetic of gravity;

The physics of a thundercloud;

The chemistry of a raindrop;

The engineering of a cobweb;

The navigation of migratory birds;

The artistry of a sunset;

The music of birdsong;

The poetry of a landscape;

Your divine hand in the images of people everywhere.

Give us the grace, O Lord,

to live each day

as if it were the day of your coming.

May we be urgent to prepare your way by fighting evil;

By preaching the Gospel;

By feeding the hungry;

By releasing the oppressed;

By healing the sick.

In this way we can help in bringing about your Kingdom,

And bring glory to your name.

Father, at the beginning of this new term we come to you

for help and guidance.

Grant us courage and energy to take up our work again cheerfully.

Help us to work hard and as well as we can and give us happiness in the things we enjoy doing-music, art, sport and learning.

May our whole school work together as well as care for one another.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord,

Amen.

“Come to me, all you who labour

And are over- burdened;

I will give you rest,”

says the Lord.

Forgive us, Father when anger and bickering

Disturb the peace of our family.

Help us to find the right words of love and encouragement;

And to say the right words to heal the hurt.

We make our prayer through Jesus, Christ, our Lord

Amen.

Lord,

You are my Light and Salvation.

In you I trust.

The Light of God surrounds us

The Love of God enfolds us

The Power of God protects us

The Presence of God watches over us

Wherever we are, God is with us.

Lord, let me reflect the colours of your Love.

Let my life be bright with laughter,

My speech be gentle,

My thinking warm,

My actions kind.

May all I say and think and do be wrapped

In peace

In Love

In Praise.

Christ has no body now, on earth, but yours;

No hands but yours;

No feet but yours.

Yours are the eyes through which Christ looks with compassion on the world;

Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good;

Yours are the hands with which he blesses all the world

(St. Teresa of Avila)

Lord, our God,

You bring Light and Joy to

the darkness of this world.

Let us carry your light in our hearts this day.

May we be aware of the needs of others;

Spend some time in quiet prayer;

Be of service to those who need our help.

Lord, in your mercy;

Hear our prayer

Home is where the heart is and within our hearts

is the capacity for love and service.

Lord, teach us to have open hearts to reach out

To all your children in

love and be of service to them.

God loved the world so much that he sent his only Son to redeem us.

We pray that we may be worthy of the sacrifice.

Amen.

“Come to me all you are overburdened and heavy laden,

for I will give you rest,” says the Lord.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart.

My yoke is gentle, my burden is light.”

Jesus said;

“You must love the Lord your God

 with your whole heart and mind

 and with all your strength.

 And you must love your neighbour as yourself.”

We are one in the Spirit

We are one in the Lord

And we will be recognized as Christian

by the love we show to others.

Amen

As each day dawns, Lord, may I acknowledge that you are the giver of life;

The Alpha and Omega of all things.

You are the Lord of Life.

The Lord is my true foundation; in him is my lasting joy.

He gives me strength and in him I trust.

Some wandered in the trackless desert and could not find their way.

Some were living in darkness and gloom, prisoners suffering in chains,

Some were sick because of their sins,

suffering because of their evil.

In their trouble they called to the Lord, and he saved them from their distress.

Let Justice flow like water and Integrity

Like an unfailing stream.

Cease to do evil;

Learn to do good;

Search for justice;

Help the oppressed, the poor, the starving, the elderly,

the lonely, the imprisoned.

Go in peace and serve the Lord and his people.

God of deep peace and of the quiet night,

Help us to sing your song each day.

Be with all those who praise you through art and music.

Show them your beauty:

Sing them your song:

Amen

Let us always be aware of the needs of others and respond to them,

even if it means we must sacrifice something of ourselves to do so.

Lord, in your mercy,…..

Hear our prayer.

God, our loving Father,

We thank you for the land in which we live

and for all the people who make up our community.

Help us all to work together in peace and harmony,

using our skills and talents for the good of all,

endeavoring to make our country a happier place in which to live.

Amen

Lord, when we are troubled or afraid,

reach out to us and touch us with your gentleness and calm.

Lord, in your mercy,,,,,

Hear our prayer.

Lord of life, may we be patient with one another;

Give time to those who need it;

Give help to those finding life difficult;

And give a smile to those who feel downhearted.

The only cost to us is to give to others from all that has been given to us by you.

Amen

May the Spirit of God inspire us in all our work,
in all our actions and in all our words;
May we be examples of God’s Love,Trust, Peace and Justice in our world.

Spirit of the living God,

fall afresh on me.

Spirit of the living God,

Fall afresh on me.

Break me, melt me,

mould me, fill me,

Spirit of the living God,

fall afresh on me

In the name of the Father……….

I offer all that I make today,

The thoughts I have,

The dreams I dream,

In thanksgiving for you creating me.

In the name of the Son……….

I offer all that I do for others;

Every kind word I speak;

Every offer of help I give,

In thanksgiving for you giving your life for me.

In the name of the Spirit………

I offer all my moments of doubt;

The difficulties I face;

The times I am unsure,

Trusting that you will give me the courage and strength to face life as it really is

We ask you, Lord to bless the members of our family.

We remember the good and happy times spent together.

Let us remember how precious each person is to you.

May we treat everyone with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Amen.

Lord,

We are all members of your family. Let us remember that we share one vision even though our ideas and methods of achieving it may be different.

Give us the wisdom to choose the best ways of achieving our goals without destroying the unique contribution of each other.

Amen

God of peace and love, as we approach the 11th day of the 11th month we once again gather to remember.

We remember that in Jesus of Nazareth you have called us to be people of peace saying, "Blessed are the peace makers" and reminding us that we are to love our neighbour and our enemy as we love ourselves

But we also acknowledge that there are times when we as a global community fail to live out those words, times when young men and women hear the call to don the uniforms of their country and serve under their flag.

Today we give thanks for all who have chosen to serve their country. We give thanks for their bravery, their commitment and their love.

But we know that when armies meet on the field there are always some who don't come home.

And so we pause in the memory of those who went and did not return, to parents and spouses and children left behind and we pray for them to find the strength in God's love in their times of sadness.

Amen

We look around us and see the evidence

of the Father’s love for us in the world he created.

May we never take his goodness for granted,

but show our appreciation in our service of one another in our school community, in our parishes and our neighbourhoods.

Lord, in your mercy…..

Hear our prayer.

May this family of our school live together in peace;

That from it peace may spread throughout the whole human family.

We ask this through Christ, our Lord.

Amen

God, be in my head,

And in my understanding;

God be in my eyes,

And in my looking;

God be in my mouth,

And in my speaking;

God be in my heart,

And in my thinking;

May I show understanding to others,

See only what is good rather than bad;

Recognise their needs,

And only use words that will lift them up and feel good.

Lord, forgive me when I choose not

to hear the voices that disturb me-

the cries of those in distress-

the voice in the wilderness calling for justice.

Teach me to be more sensitive to the voices

of those in need.

Amen.

Through this changing world below

Lead me gently as I go;

Trusting thee, I cannot stray;

I can never lose my way.

Lord, help me to live this day quietly, easily

To lean upon your great strength trustfully, respectfully

To await the unfolding of your will patiently, serenely

To meet others peacefully, joyfully

To face tomorrow confidently, courageously.

Amen.

Balance in my life

God our Father,

lead me to grow in faith

and keep a healthy balance in my life.

Remind me that I need to

give time and space for myself

as well as for others.

Inspire me to remain committed in my work,

sharing quality time with my family,

and enjoying sufficient rest and recreation.

Amen.

Lord, we are gathered here as one in your name.

We belong to one another,

and each has a part to play in each other’s lives.

Help us to love and respect one another without personal reward, but because you gave us the example-

“Love one another as I have loved you”.

Amen

The Way, the Truth and the Life

Lord Jesus Christ,

you have said

that you are the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Do not allow us to stray from you,

who are the Way,

not to distrust you, who are the Truth,

nor to rest in anything other than you,

who are the Life.

Lord, teach me to trust like a child;

to love like a child;

to have the laughter of a child;

to have the curiosity of a child;

to be ready to learn;

to keep on trying;

to accept the mysterious;

to gaze in wonder at your world about me.

Amen

May we be aware of the needs of others;

Spend some time in quiet prayer;

Be of service to those who need our help.

Lord in your mercy;

Hear our prayer.

Forgive us, Father, when anger and bickering

disturb the peace of our family.

Help us find the right words of love and encouragement;

and to say the right words to heal the hurt.

We make our prayer through Jesus, Christ, our Lord.

Amen

God, our King,

The Kingdom comes when people are fair to each other;

The Kingdom comes when people care for each other;

The Kingdom comes when people forgive each other.

Thy Kingdom come!

Lord, I offer you my hopes and fears today.

I offer you the light and shadows within me.

May your light shine through me clearly, that others will recognise your goodness in me.

May I never hide your light in the way I live.

Teach me Lord to model your kindness and honesty, to praise regularly, to reassure and guide with wisdom.

May I find the time to celebrate whatever happens, being a reminder to everyone of your loving presence living in people.

Lord, thank you for all the anticipation and anxiety with which I meet this month.

I offer you every thought and word, every event and each encounter.

May they all find meaning and depth in your presence.

Let the work I do today be helpful in your plan for a better world.

Lord, may your spirit open me up to new ways of seeing and deeper ways of working so that I might be a faithful guide.

Give me the insight that will make me into a conscious carrier of your spirit, a sign and bearer of your own loving kindness.

Lord, there are so many reasons to smile and be cheerful,

so many God-given moments that are messengers of hope each day.

Lord, I offer you this day.

Help me to live out your challenge to love you and my neighbour in everything that happens.

If I cannot do great things

I will do small things in a great way.

God doesn’t expect us to do extraordinary things-

He wants us to do ordinary things extraordinarily well.

(St Teresa of Lisieux)

Time lost is time in which we have failed

to live our human life;

to gain experience, to learn, create, enjoy, suffer.

It is time that has been filled up, but left empty.

Pray that we never waste this God-given gift.

May I live my life in the present,

not being too concerned with the

problems of tomorrow.

May I use each moment wisely.

Lord, teach me to be generous in forgiving,

To do good to those who hurt me.

To forgive and not to count the cost.

Amen

Father God,

We pray that each one of us here

may take full responsibility for our school;

For its honesty,

For its manners,

For its whole life.

May we bring to it each morning, in our hearts and minds,

a spirit of caring and service.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Father in heaven,

Let us remember that every little thing we do

in your name will have its effect in our world.

For all we do you will take and make wonderful.

Amen

In the glory of sunrise or sunset;

In the beam of a little child’s smile;

In the opening of a beautiful flower,

We see the wonder and perfection of your creation.

Lord, open our eyes to be more aware, and to

glory in your goodness.

Amen

Lord, inspire us to live our lives

In such a way that we uphold all we know

to be good, true

and worthwhile.

Amen

Help me, Lord

To know what I ought to know;

To love what I ought to love;

To praise what delights you most,

To value what is precious in your sight;

To hate what is offensive to you.

Lord, when I have doubts about you and your mission,

and the part you want me to play in it

give me the wisdom to wait patiently, in trust,

until the way ahead seems clear once more.

Amen

Day by day,

O Lord

Three things I pray:

To see thee more clearly;

Love thee more dearly;

Follow thee more nearly.

Day by day

Dear Lord,

Thank you for this wonderful day you have given us.

A day of life you have blessed us with.

Help us to realise that it truly is a blessing

to live another day, with good health and good friends.

May the Holy Spirit guide us in the understanding of our world and its needs.

Help us to shape the world in a pattern that reflects God’s love for us-

for the hungry to be fed; the oppressed set free, the lonely comforted;

our enemies forgiven and the love of God offered, through us, to all who we meet.

Our world is a world of many races;

Many colours, cultures, customs;

each a bright section in the tapestry of humanity you are weaving.

Lord, help me to see beyond the differences to the people you create and love.

And give me joy in your multi-splendoured world.

Lord, I offer you the journey I make this year.

May it be woven into your eternal plan of love for all creation.

Let me walk alongside others, my eyes wide open to the way your love links our journeys together.

Loving and most merciful Father,

increase our faith, our hope, our charity,

and help us to love your commandments.

Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

‘Love one another-

I have loved you.

I have shown you

how to be free.

Serve one another

and when you do

     Do it in love for me’

‘There are three things that last;

faith, hope and love;

and the greatest of these is love.’

Let us be generous in the love

we give to others. Amen.

Guard my lips that I might
 s
ay only what is true today.

Teach us, good Lord, to serve you as you deserve;
 to give and not to count the cost;
to fight and not to heed the wounds;
to toil and not to seek for rest;
to labour and not to ask for any reward,
save that of knowing that we do your will,
Amen

Loving and merciful Father,

increase our faith, our hope, our charity

and help us to love your commandments.

Through Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

‘A man can have no greater love than to lay down his life for his friends.

You are my friends if you do what I command you……….

love one another as I have loved you.’

There are three things that count-

Faith, Hope and Charity

and the greatest of these is Charity - which is Love.

Lord, give me an open heart

to find you everywhere,

to glimpse the heaven unfolded in a bud,

and experience eternity in the smallest act of love.

- Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Prayer of Commitment

I will do more than care,

I will help.

I will do more than belong,

I will participate.

I will do more than believe,

I will practise.

I will do more than be fair,

I will be kind.

I will do more than dream,

I will work

I will do more than learn,

I will be inspired.

I will do more than take,

I will give.

I will do more than give,

I will serve.

Help me to…..

Lord, help me to live this day quietly, easily.

To lean upon your great strength trustfully, respectfully

To await the unfolding of your will patiently, serenely

To meet others peacefully, joyfully

To face tomorrow confidently, courageously.

Amen.

Wonders of Creation

Lord, you have made us responsible for all the wonders of creation.

Help us to recognise each person we meet as a unique expression of you and to give them respect.

Amen

Precious Time

Lord. We thank you for this precious gift of time.

It is so easy to waste it--to let the sands of time just trickle through our fingers.

Each moment is precious and will not come again.

Help us to appreciate each moment and use it wisely.

Amen.

Love

“ Love is always patient and kind;

love is never boastful or conceited;

it is never rude or selfish;

it does not take offence,

and is not resentful”

Teach us, Lord, to put others before ourselves,

to sacrifice our own desires for the good of others.

Amen

Lord, our gift to you

Lord, God,

You have given us a new day.

Give us the grace to work for your glory and for our neighbour’s good,today and always.

May this day, well-lived, be our gift to you.

Amen.

Help us to choose

Lord, you have given us free will to choose what we do.

Help us to choose a loving way of living.

To recognise the needs of others and respond to them with your love.

Amen

Teach Us To

Lord, teach us to keep life in perspective,

to find solutions for the important issues of life,

And set aside our anxieties about those we have no control over.

May we trust in you.

Amen

Thank You For This Day

Lord, Thank you for this day.

Grant me the wisdom to use it wisely;

Help me win all my struggles.

Help me to be myself.

Thank you for all you have given me;

May I use my gifts with a generous heart;

Help me to forgive others;

Help me to encourage others to do their best

And to be the best I can be.

Amen.

Grant Us Strength

Lord God,

Grant us strength enough to do what is right rather than what is easiest;

Humility enough to admit our wrong-doing  and seek to put it right;

Insight enough to be worthy of you;

Determination enough to try and right injustice;

Faith enough to know that with you, - everything is possible. Amen

Teach Me

Lord, teach me not to judge others,

not to measure the service others give,

or the amount they give to charity.

Only you, in your goodness, knows the cost to each of us.

Let us rather be always generous in our giving.

We ask this through Jesus, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for my Family

Heavenly Father, to your loving care and protection I entrust my family this day

Bless each one of us and keep us in your love; protect us from harm, guide us in our actions and fill us with your Spirit.

May your peace reign in our hearts and your love be always at the heart of our family. Amen

I will be busy

O Lord,

you know how busy I must be this day.

If I forget you,

do not forget me.

A Prayer for Families

Lord, bless our families.

Help us to reach out to all our family members.

Help us to see that in some wonderful mysterious way, all people everywhere, belong to the one, same family, because you are our Father. Amen
